About the Artist

James Alan Edwards is best known as a professor of art (Massachusetts College of Art & Design and University of Massachusetts), but over the past decade he has been quietly creating a body of unique works in oil. Edwards has utilized the exacting methods of his former career as Boston-based designer to produce meticulously crafted and intensely personal representations of the visual world. James now lives and paints in Baltimore, Maryland.

I aim to combine visual poetry with moments of realism to conjure a sense of ‘presence and emersion’. I am looking to capture something that presents the nature of a universe that is in a state of constant flux, while expressing elements of authentic human emotion.
